Two New Horn Players Join the Concertgebouw. One Is 23 and Trained In-House.
4 min read2 days ago
The Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra confirmed on April 27 that Lou-Anne Dutreix and Simen Fegran have completed their trial periods and are now full members of the orchestra. Dutreix is 23 years old, French, and came up through the Concertgebouw Academy — the orchestra's own development pipeline. Fegran arrives from the Gewandhaus Orchestra in Leipzig, where he held the second horn position. Together, the two appointments illustrate the strategy the Concertgebouw has used to sustain its brass section across decades: build from within and recruit from peers.
