Alfredo Kraus was a Spanish tenor of Canarian descent, regarded as one of the finest lyric tenors of the 20th century. Active from the 1950s through the 1990s, he was celebrated for his flawless technique, elegant phrasing, and longevity. His signature roles included Werther, Des Grieux, and the Duke of Mantua.
