Sir Anthony James Dowell is a retired British ballet dancer and a former artistic director of the Royal Ballet. He is widely recognized as one of the great danseurs nobles of the twentieth century.

Anthony Dowell rose through the Royal Ballet's ranks to become the preeminent danseur noble of his generation, celebrated for his crystalline technique and profound interpretive gifts in the classical and neoclassical repertoire. His legendary partnership with Antoinette Sibley and his defining roles in Giselle, Swan Lake, Manon, and The Dream established him as one of the twentieth century's greatest male ballet dancers. After retiring from performance, he guided the Royal Ballet as Ballet Master in Chief and Artistic Director, cementing his legacy as both artist and custodian of the classical tradition.
