Soprano, lyric-dramatic Fach
Finnish soprano Camilla Nylund is a lyric-dramatic voice of commanding presence, celebrated for her penetrating interpretations of Strauss and Wagner heroines across the world's most prestigious opera houses.
Defining moments and milestones
After earning the Lilli Lehmann Medal at Salzburg in 1995, Nylund established herself through ensemble work at Staatsoper Hannover and Semperoper Dresden before ascending to international prominence with debuts at Vienna, Salzburg Festival, and Bayreuth in the 2000s. Her luminous, full-bodied soprano has made her an indispensable interpreter of the Straussian and Wagnerian heroines—the Marschallin, Arabella, and Brünnhilde—across the world's most exacting opera houses. Remaining actively engaged with major international venues and festivals, she continues to expand her interpretive reach into twentieth-century modernism and the Slavic operatic tradition.
Musicology studies, University of Turku; vocal training at Mozarteum Salzburg under Eva Illes (graduated 1995); continued studies with Professor Irmgard Boas, Dresden (since 2003)
