Mezzo-Soprano and Contralto
Signature Roles
Catherine Wyn-Rogers emerged from the Royal College of Music as a Foundation Scholar to establish herself as one of Britain's most versatile mezzo-sopranos, building a three-decade career across the world's major opera houses and concert halls. Her early prominence came through concert work, notably as alto soloist in the B Minor Mass at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre in 1989, and she has since maintained a distinguished presence at the Metropolitan Opera, Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Teatro alla Scala, and the Lyric Opera of Chicago. A particular champion of British opera and the Handel repertoire, Wyn-Rogers has brought both vocal richness and dramatic intelligence to roles ranging from Wagner's Erda to Tippett's Sosostris, while also serving as Professor of Singing at the Royal Academy of Music.
