From his 2013 regional debut in Next to Normal at the Beck Center for the Performing Arts, McCarrell ascended to Broadway in 2014 as an ensemble member in Les Misérables, eventually securing the role of Marius Pontmercy—a tenor showcase that demonstrated his vocal maturity and dramatic range.
