Borle emerged from regional theatre in the 1990s to become a Broadway fixture, initially gaining recognition for his comedic timing and versatility in roles ranging from Peter in the 2006 revival of The Boy from Oz to Marvin in the 2014 revival of Tick, Tick... Boom!, which earned him his first Tony Award. His second Tony followed for his portrayal of Shakespeare in Something Rotten! (2015), cementing his status as one of Broadway's most reliable and inventive performers. Since then, he has continued to command major roles in high-profile productions, including his celebrated turn as Willy Wonka in the 2023 Broadway adaptation, demonstrating an undiminished capacity for theatrical reinvention.
