Principal Dancer
A Russian-American principal dancer of extraordinary technical virtuosity and artistic range, Daniil Simkin has established himself as one of ballet's most compelling male interpreters through his work with American Ballet Theatre and major international companies.
Defining moments and milestones
Trained by his mother in Wiesbaden rather than at a traditional ballet academy, Simkin emerged as a prodigy after winning the USA International Ballet Competition in 2006, launching a career that would take him from the Vienna State Opera Ballet to principal dancer status at American Ballet Theatre by 2012. Over the past decade, he has become one of ballet's most versatile male leads, equally commanding in the classical virtuosity of *Don Quixote* and the psychological complexity of Ratmansky's contemporary works, while simultaneously establishing himself as a choreographer, producer, and digital innovator.
Promoted to Principal Dancer with American Ballet Theatre in 2012; Senior Gold Medal, USA International Ballet Competition (2006)
