After graduating from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in 1991, Tennant built a formidable reputation in British theatre and television, earning critical acclaim for classical work with the Royal Shakespeare Company before achieving international prominence as the Tenth Doctor in *Doctor Who*. Rather than rest on that iconic role, he has pursued a deliberately eclectic career, delivering career-defining performances in prestige television—most notably as the psychopathic Kilgrave in *Jessica Jones* and as serial killer Dennis Nilsen in the miniseries *Des*—while maintaining his commitment to demanding stage work, including celebrated interpretations of Hamlet and Macbeth. His trajectory exemplifies the modern actor who refuses typecasting, moving fluidly between blockbuster franchises, intimate psychological dramas, and classical theatre with equal conviction and precision.
