Baritone-Tenor (jazz and classical vocalist)
Esteban Andres Cruz is a blind, queer, trans-nonbinary Latinx theater artist of extraordinary range—actor, dancer, singer, choreographer, composer, and playwright—whose work chronicles the Mexi-Rican diaspora with unflinching artistry and technical virtuosity.
Defining moments and milestones
Trained from adolescence across dance, acting, and music in Chicago's rigorous institutional landscape, Esteban Andres Cruz emerged as a principal dancer with Cincinnati Ballet before pivoting to acting, where their 2019 Off-Broadway debut as Venus Ramirez in *Halfway Bitches Go Straight To Heaven* earned critical recognition and a Drama Desk nomination. A recipient of the TCG National Fox Acting Fellow Award, Cruz has consolidated their position as a multidisciplinary artist of uncommon range, working as actor, choreographer, composer, and playwright while bringing radical visibility as a blind, trans-nonbinary Latinx performer to stages across the country.
Drama Desk Award nomination for Best Featured Actor for originating the role of Venus Ramirez in Stephen Adly Guirgis's *Halfway Bitches Go Straight To Heaven* (2019)
