Mezzo-Soprano
French mezzo-soprano Gaëlle Arquez has established herself as a commanding interpreter of Carmen and a sophisticated artist across Baroque, Classical, and French operatic repertoire, marked by dramatic intensity and tonal richness.
Defining moments and milestones
Gaëlle Arquez emerged from the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris to make her professional debut in 2013 as Zerlina at the Opéra Bastille in Michael Haneke's *Don Giovanni*, an auspicious beginning that established her as a mezzo-soprano of dramatic intensity and refined musicality. Over the following decade, she has become a commanding interpreter of Carmen, performing the role at the Royal Opera House, Bavarian State Opera, and Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, while simultaneously building a sophisticated career across Baroque and French classical repertoire. Her 2017 Deutsche Grammophon recording *Ardente Flamme* and her Metropolitan Opera debut as Cherubino in 2019 confirmed her status as an established artist of international standing, recognized for both dramatic power and vocal beauty.
