Career Trajectory

A Prix de Lausanne winner who danced as a soloist with Hamburg Ballet, Jean-Christophe Maillot transitioned to choreography and, in 1993, became Choreographer-Director of Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo—a position he has held for over three decades. There, he has created more than 80 ballets that reimagine classical narrative through a rigorously contemporary lens, establishing the company as one of Europe's most intellectually adventurous ballet institutions.
