A Prix de Lausanne winner who danced as a soloist with Hamburg Ballet, Jean-Christophe Maillot transitioned to choreography and, in 1993, became Choreographer-Director of Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo—a position he has held for over three decades. There, he has created more than 80 ballets that reimagine classical narrative through a rigorously contemporary lens, establishing the company as one of Europe's most intellectually adventurous ballet institutions. His works now circulate among the world's premier ballet companies, and his influence extends across the contemporary ballet landscape as a choreographer unafraid to interrogate tradition while honoring its technical and expressive foundations.
