Born into an operatic family of distinction, Julien Dran trained at the Conservatoire de Bordeaux before launching his professional career during the 2007–2008 season at the Opéra de Marseille as a resident artist. A competition prizewinner and creator of roles in contemporary opera, he has built a substantial European career as a lyric tenor, performing across the major French opera houses and La Monnaie, Brussels, with a repertoire spanning Mozart, Rossini, Verdi, and Puccini.
Created the role of Tiberius in the world premiere of Dominique Gesseney-Rappo's *Carlotta ou la Vaticane* in Freiburg
