Signature Roles
Silverman's trajectory from production assistant on the national tour of *Rent* (1996) to one of Broadway's most respected contemporary directors reflects her commitment to rigorous artistic development and collaborative storytelling. Her breakthrough came with the 2004 off-Broadway production of *Well* at The Public Theater, which she subsequently brought to Broadway in 2006 at age 31, establishing herself as one of the youngest women directing on the Great White Way. Over two decades, she has earned sustained recognition—including an Obie Award for Sustained Excellence (2019) and two Tony nominations for Best Direction of a Musical—while maintaining deep relationships with playwrights and composers and remaining a champion of new American theatrical voices.
