A principal dancer of the Kirov Ballet who rose to prominence immediately upon her 1981 graduation from the Vaganova Academy, Margarita Kullik became one of Russia's finest classical interpreters, winning the Varna International Ballet Competition in 1983 and mastering the great romantic and classical roles over four decades of performing. Following her distinguished stage career, she transitioned into coaching and ballet mastery at the Mariinsky Theatre, where she has mentored world-class dancers and served as a guardian of the Vaganova tradition, receiving the Spirit of Dance prize in 2018 for her lifetime contribution to Russian ballet.
