Kwiecień rose from his Kraków origins to become one of the world's most sought-after baritones, commanding the stages of the Metropolitan Opera, Royal Opera House, Vienna State Opera, and Paris Opera with a warm, incisive voice and magnetic stage presence. His interpretations of Don Giovanni, Eugene Onegin, and Szymanowski's King Roger became benchmarks of excellence, earning Grammy nominations and international critical acclaim. Forced to retire in 2020 due to recurrent back problems, he transitioned to artistic direction and teaching, receiving the title of Professor of Musical Arts in 2024.
