Jaroussky's ascent from the Conservatoire de Paris to international prominence was meteoric, his voice immediately recognized as possessing the rare combination of technical facility and interpretive maturity demanded by the most exacting Baroque repertoire. Beginning in the early 2000s with performances at the Aix-en-Provence Festival and other European venues, he rapidly became the countertenor of choice for major opera houses, his interpretations of Nerone, Ruggiero, and Orfeo establishing him as the preeminent interpreter of the castrato repertoire. Over two decades, he has built an extensive discography and maintained a rigorous schedule of operatic and concert performances, consolidating his position as the defining countertenor voice of his generation.
