Randall Arney rose from Steppenwolf Theatre Company ensemble member to its Artistic Director, orchestrating the company's institutional transformation and Broadway triumphs throughout the late 1980s and early 1990s. He subsequently relocated to Los Angeles, where he directed and led the Geffen Playhouse for nearly two decades, establishing himself as a master curator of contemporary American drama. His work as both director and actor—spanning Pinter and Mamet to new commissions—reflects a deep commitment to ensemble practice and the living vitality of the stage.
