Trained in classical ballet at Prague Conservatory and the Royal Ballet School, Kylián danced with Stuttgart Ballet from 1968 before transitioning to choreography in the late 1970s. As principal choreographer and artistic director of Nederlands Dans Theater, he created over one hundred works that synthesized classical rigor with contemporary innovation, establishing himself as one of the most influential dance makers of his generation. His legacy extends across five decades of groundbreaking productions that have been performed by major companies worldwide.
