Signature Roles
Sun-Ly Pierce made her professional operatic debut as Dorinda in Handel's *Acis and Galatea* with the Broad Street Orchestra in autumn 2019, emerging from rigorous training at two of America's premier conservatories. Through her tenure at the Houston Grand Opera Studio and victories in major vocal competitions—most notably the 2019 Marilyn Horne Song Competition—she rapidly expanded her repertoire across classical and contemporary works, securing roles at leading American opera companies including New Orleans Opera, The Santa Fe Opera, and Des Moines Metro Opera. By her early thirties, Pierce has achieved the rare distinction of simultaneous engagements at the Metropolitan Opera and Europe's major houses, including her 2025–26 European debut at Semperoper Dresden, positioning her as one of the most promising mezzo-sopranos of her generation.
