Signature Roles
Suzzy Roche joined her sisters Maggie and Terre in 1977 to form The Roches, whose 1979 self-titled debut album established the trio as innovative voices in American folk-rock, earning critical acclaim and Grammy nominations. Throughout her career spanning more than four decades, she has balanced ensemble work with The Roches with solo recording and collaborative projects, including a celebrated 2013 album with her daughter Lucy Wainwright Roche. As an educator at NYU and Princeton, she has become a mentor to the next generation of singer-songwriters, cementing her legacy as both a distinctive artist and a keeper of the folk tradition.
The Roches' self-titled debut album (1979) was hailed by The New York Times music critic John Rockwell as 'the best pop record of 1979'
