Director
Thomas Kail established himself as a director of uncommon theatrical intelligence through his early work at the Public Theater, where his staging of Lin-Manuel Miranda's In the Heights announced a fresh sensibility attuned to contemporary vernacular and urban storytelling. His direction of Hamilton—first at the Public in 2015, then on Broadway—became a watershed moment in musical theatre history, earning him a Tony Award and establishing him as the preeminent director of hip-hop-inflected theatre. Since Hamilton's epochal success, Kail has expanded his practice across television, live performance, and new theatrical forms, while remaining committed to developing emerging artists and innovative work.
