Uwe Scholz emerged as a choreographer while still a student at Stuttgart Ballet, creating his first work, *Serenade for 5+1*, in 1976, and joined the company as a dancer upon graduation in 1979. Over the next two and a half decades, he established himself as one of Europe's most prolific and intellectually rigorous choreographers, creating over 100 works—primarily symphonic ballets set to classical and contemporary composers—while maintaining active roles as performer, director, and pedagogue. His artistic achievements were recognized with major German honors, including the German Cross of Merit (1996) and the German Dance Award (1999), cementing his legacy as a transformative figure in late-twentieth-century European ballet.
