The oldest continuously operating dance company in the United States, Atlanta Ballet was founded in 1929 and has been a cornerstone of the Southeast's performing arts landscape for nearly a century. The company performs at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre and presents a diverse repertoire that boldly embraces contemporary choreography alongside classical tradition. Under artistic director Gennadi Nedvigin, Atlanta Ballet has sharpened its artistic profile with commissions from leading international choreographers. Its annual Nutcracker, a holiday tradition since the 1960s, remains one of the most attended cultural events in Georgia.
Acoustics, seating, and what to expect
The Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre features excellent acoustics with a 2025 Meyer Sound PANTHER system upgrade, free-standing feature walls for lateral reflections, and adjustable draperies for sound control. Staff note there is not a bad seat in the house acoustically.
Orchestra level center seats (lower-numbered seats in Portals A-D) offer optimal proximity and acoustics. Mezzanine and Grand Tier levels also provide excellent sound and sightlines; avoid middle Orchestra C seats where soundboard obstruction may occur for certain performances.
