The Embassy Theatre, originally the Emboyd Theatre, opened on May 14, 1928, as Fort Wayne's most opulent movie palace and vaudeville house. Its breathtaking rococo interior features Neo-Middle Eastern arches, Romanesque barrel vaults, intricately marbled staircases, and Art Deco mirrors—a phantasmagoric celestial environment frozen in time. Rescued from demolition in the 1970s through dedicated community effort, the theatre was meticulously restored and now serves as Fort Wayne's principal performing arts venue, hosting Broadway productions, concerts, and cultural events. The magnificent 1,150-pipe organ remains a centerpiece of the experience, underscoring the venue's commitment to preserving architectural grandeur alongside contemporary performance.
