Tips from the regulars
Entrance
The main entrance faces West 44th Street. First-time visitors should enter from the street side rather than attempting to navigate through the Theater District's narrow passages.
Intermission
At 597 seats, the Helen Hayes empties quickly during intermission. The lobby bar can become crowded; consider stepping outside onto West 44th Street if you prefer breathing room. The theater's compact footprint means you'll never be far from your seat.
Accessibility
Wheelchair accessibility status is not currently documented. Contact the theater directly or consult with Second Stage regarding accessible seating, elevator locations, and accommodations.
Transit, parking & directions
Public Transit
The 42nd Street–Port Authority Bus Terminal (A, C, E subway lines) is the nearest major transit hub, approximately 2 blocks south. The N, R, W lines serve Times Square–42nd Street, also roughly 2 blocks away. Either station is a 5-minute walk. Ride-share drop-off is convenient on West 44th Street.
Parking
Street parking in the Theater District is notoriously difficult. The nearest commercial parking garages are within a 2-3 block radius; expect to pay $15–$25 for evening parking. Alternatively, use ride-share drop-off on West 44th Street directly in front of the theater.
