Tips from the regulars
Entrance
The main entrance faces Lincoln Center Plaza from the south. Arrive via the plaza itself—it's the ceremonial approach and allows you to experience the Chagall murals glowing through the glass facade at night. For those arriving by car or taxi, the plaza has multiple entry points; ask your driver for 'Lincoln Center Plaza, the Met Opera House entrance.' The address is 30 Lincoln Center Plaza.
Intermission
The Met Opera House has multiple bars and lounges. The Grand Promenade on the upper levels offers the best sightlines and least crowding during intermission. The main orchestra-level bar gets congested. If you're in the balcony, stay upstairs—the views of the plaza through the glass are worth the extra minute. Restroom lines are long; go early in the intermission. The house staff manages crowd flow well, but arrive at your seat 5 minutes before curtain.
Accessibility
Data on elevator locations, accessible seating policy, and specific accessibility contact information is not available in the current dataset. Contact the box office directly (phone and email not provided in current data) to confirm wheelchair accessibility, hearing loop availability, and audio description services. The venue's wheelchair_accessible field is null, indicating this critical information requires verification.
Transit, parking & directions
Public Transit
Subway: 1 train (Broadway–Seventh Avenue Line) stops at 66th Street–Lincoln Center, the closest stop. Exit at the north end of the platform and walk south through the plaza (3–4 minutes). Alternative: A/C trains at 59th Street–Columbus Circle (about 10-minute walk north). The 66th Street station is the most direct. Ride-share drop-off: Columbus Avenue or Amsterdam Avenue on either side of the plaza.
Parking
Lincoln Center has underground parking accessible from multiple streets (Columbus Avenue, Amsterdam Avenue). Typical cost is $20–$35 for evening performances. Street parking on the Upper West Side is metered and highly competitive. The nearest public garage is the Lincoln Center Parking Garage (directly beneath the plaza), roughly 2-minute walk. Ride-share drop-off is on the plaza itself or on Columbus Avenue just south of the complex.
