Metropolitan Opera

The main entrance faces Lincoln Center Plaza on the south side of the building (30 Lincoln Center Plaza). Arrive via the plaza itself—the approach through the fountain and past the Chagall murals visible through the glass is the ceremonial entry. For those arriving by car or taxi, the plaza entrance is most direct. The building has multiple entrances; if arriving late, ask an usher for the nearest door to your section.

The Met's intermissions are typically 15 minutes. The lobby bars become extremely crowded; if you want a drink, arrive at intermission within the first 2 minutes or wait until the final 3 minutes before curtain. The restrooms on the orchestra level fill quickly; use them before intermission begins. The mezzanine level is less crowded. If you have orchestra seating, note that the orchestra level has its own bar and restroom facilities—use these if available.

Public Transit

Nearest subway: 66th Street–Lincoln Center station (1, 2, 3 lines), a 5-minute walk south and east from the Met. Exit at 66th Street and follow signs to Lincoln Center. The station can be crowded before performances; allow 15 minutes from the platform to your seat. Alternative: 72nd Street station (1, 2, 3 lines) is a 10-minute walk north.

Parking

Lincoln Center has a dedicated parking garage beneath the complex, accessible from Amsterdam Avenue. Typical cost is $20–$35 depending on duration. Street parking on the Upper West Side is difficult during performance hours. Ride-share drop-off is on the plaza level; allow extra time during peak arrival windows (30–60 minutes before curtain).
