New Amsterdam Theatre

The main entrance faces 42nd Street directly; arrive via the Times Square-42nd Street subway complex (N, Q, R, W trains) or the 42nd Street-Port Authority station (A, C, E trains). The theatre is impossible to miss—the ornate facade and marquee are visible from multiple blocks. Street-level entry is straightforward; no hidden or secondary entrances are documented.

The New Amsterdam's orchestra pit and proscenium configuration mean most productions run without intermission or with a single 15-minute break. Bar service is available in the lobby; expect significant crowding during any intermission. The mezzanine level has its own bar area, which is less congested. Restroom queues can be substantial; use facilities before the show begins if possible.

Public Transit

The New Amsterdam is served by five subway lines within one block: the 42nd Street-Port Authority station (A, C, E trains) is directly adjacent; the 42nd Street station (1, 2, 3 trains) is one block south; and the Times Square-42nd Street complex (N, Q, R, W trains) is one block east. The M42 crosstown bus also serves the area. From any of these stations, the theatre is a 2–5 minute walk. Ride-share drop-off is on 42nd Street; expect heavy congestion 30–60 minutes before curtain.

Parking

Street parking in Times Square is notoriously difficult and expensive. Nearby garages include the Port Authority Bus Terminal garage (one block west) and multiple commercial lots throughout Midtown. Expect $15–$35 for evening parking depending on duration and location. Walk time from most garages is 5–10 minutes. Ride-share drop-off is available on 42nd Street; expect congestion during pre-show hours.
