The Odeon-Theatre de l'Europe is one of France's six national theatres, designated a Theatre of Europe in 1990 in recognition of its commitment to international dramatic art. The magnificent neoclassical building near the Luxembourg Gardens, originally opened in 1782, has been a cradle of French dramatic literature from Beaumarchais to contemporary playwrights.
Acoustics, seating, and what to expect
The semicircular Italian-style auditorium is noted for its exceptional acoustics, with excellent sound projection throughout the hall. The neoclassical design and proportions contribute to balanced acoustic properties across most seating areas.
Italian-style theaters typically offer optimal sightlines and acoustics from central orchestra and lower balcony seats. The semicircular configuration ensures good acoustic and visual experience from most areas of the 782-seat hall.
