The oldest continuously operating ballet company in the world, the Paris Opera Ballet traces its origins to the court of Louis XIV and the founding of the Académie Royale de Danse in 1661. Performing at both the Palais Garnier and the Opéra Bastille, the company maintains one of the most rigorous hierarchical systems in dance, from quadrille to étoile. Its dancers embody a distinctive French school of ballet characterized by elegance, épaulement, and crystalline technique. The Paris Opera Ballet remains the standard against which classical ballet traditions worldwide are measured.
