Founded in 1980, the Tennessee Performing Arts Center stands as Nashville's premier cultural institution, housed within the James K. Polk Cultural Center in downtown Nashville. Conceived through a visionary public-private partnership led by Martha Rivers Ingram, TPAC comprises three theaters—Andrew Jackson Hall, James K. Polk Theater, and Andrew Johnson Theater—each named after Tennessee presidents and meticulously designed to optimize acoustics and sightlines across diverse genres from Broadway spectacles to experimental works. The venue serves as home to three distinguished resident companies: Nashville Ballet, Nashville Opera, and Nashville Repertory Theatre, anchoring a vibrant artistic ecosystem. Beyond its world-class performances, TPAC's extensive arts education programs reach hundreds of thousands of students and educators annually, cementing its role as a vital community asset. A transformative new campus, designed by an international team including Bjarke Ingels Group, is slated to open in 2030.

Acoustics
All three theaters are designed with acoustics and sightlines optimized for their respective genres and performance types.
Best Seats
For Andrew Jackson Hall, Orchestra center rows offer optimal sightlines; wheelchair accessible seating is available in rows Y and Z at the back of the Orchestra level. In Polk Theater, center Orchestra sections provide the best acoustic and visual experience. Season ticket holders and donors at premium levels (Bravo, Ovation, Encore) receive priority access to prime seating.
