Didone recounts the tragic final chapter of Carthage's legendary queen. Aeneas, the Trojan hero, arrives in Carthage where Didone has established a thriving kingdom after fleeing her homeland. The two fall passionately in love, and Didone envisions a future of shared glory and devotion. However, Aeneas is bound by divine destiny to sail to Italy and found Rome. As the conflict between personal desire and fate intensifies, Didone must confront the impossibility of their union. When Aeneas ultimately departs to fulfill his sacred mission, Didone's world collapses.
