Ruby Rossi is the only hearing member of a deaf family in a Massachusetts fishing village, serving as her parents' and brother's interpreter in daily life. When a music teacher discovers her extraordinary singing voice and encourages her to pursue a conservatory audition, Ruby is torn between her family's dependence on her and her own dreams. She must find a way to honor both her gift and her family's world.
