Mary has just been released from prison after failing to protect her stepdaughter Briana from abuse decades ago. She wants to come home to Yorkshire and forget all about it, but her daughters Julie and Bernie and granddaughter Ella have other ideas. Over a tumultuous two days, three generations of women are forced to confront not just their past but themselves, as the long shadow of male violence reveals how trauma echoes through a family. A Clean Break production co-produced with the National Theatre.
