Synopsis
The romantic and restless Emma marries the dull provincial doctor Charles Bovary, only to find married life suffocating in its mediocrity. She embarks on passionate love affairs and extravagant spending, desperately seeking the grand passions she has read about in novels. Crushed by debt and abandoned by her lovers, Emma's illusions shatter and she takes her own life.
