Synopsis
Former showgirls reunite for a final party in their crumbling old theater before it is demolished. As memories and regrets surface, two married couples, Buddy and Sally, Ben and Phyllis, confront the gap between their youthful dreams and their disillusioned present. Sondheim's score alternates between pastiche numbers recalling the golden age of Broadway and devastatingly honest songs about middle-aged disillusion.
