Jewels

Jewels is a plotless three-act ballet that celebrates the beauty of precious gems through pure dance and orchestral music. Each act corresponds to a different jewel and distinct musical tradition: the first act, "Emeralds," draws on the Romantic ballet vocabulary set to Fauré's compositions, featuring lyrical movement and ethereal femininity. The second act, "Rubies," embraces American jazz and contemporary energy with Stravinsky's Capriccio for Piano and Orchestra, showcasing sharp, syncopated choreography and theatrical flair. The final act, "Diamonds," returns to classical grandeur with Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 3, presenting majestic formations and virtuosic technique. Throughout, Balanchine's choreography transforms the stage into a glittering display of human artistry, where dancers embody the radiance, precision, and timeless elegance of fine jewelry.
