Synopsis
On the coast of Ceylon, two fishermen, Nadir and Zurga, reunite and recall swearing an oath to renounce their shared love for the beautiful priestess Leïla. But when Leïla arrives to pray for the fishermen's safety, old passions reignite, threatening to destroy their friendship and the community. Bizet's early opera is renowned for its celebrated tenor-baritone duet 'Au fond du temple saint,' one of the most beloved melodies in all of opera.
