Iolanta & Bluebeard's Castle

This double bill pairs two contrasting one-act operas from the late Romantic and early modern periods. Tchaikovsky's Iolanta tells of a blind princess whose sight is miraculously restored through love and faith, set against a fairy-tale backdrop of magic and redemption. Bartók's Bluebeard's Castle presents a darker psychological drama in which a new bride enters her mysterious husband's castle, discovering seven locked doors that reveal the secrets of his past—each chamber exposing deeper layers of his soul and the tragedy of human connection.
