Ragtime

Three American families at the turn of the twentieth century, an upper-class white family in New Rochelle, a Harlem ragtime musician named Coalhouse Walker Jr., and a Latvian Jewish immigrant named Tateh, see their lives intertwine as America undergoes radical social change. When Coalhouse's car is destroyed by racist firemen and justice is denied, he takes desperate action. The musical weaves real historical figures like Harry Houdini, Booker T. Washington, and Emma Goldman into a sweeping portrait of an era.
