The Comedy of Errors

The Comedy of Errors follows two sets of identical twins separated at birth, each pair consisting of a master and his servant, both named Antipholus and Dromio respectively. When one Antipholus and his Dromio arrive in Ephesus—the very city where their twins have lived for years—a cascade of mistaken identities ensues. The resident Antipholus is greeted by the wife of his twin, while his Dromio encounters the servant Dromio's master. Confusion multiplies as the newcomers are invited to dinner, accused of infidelity, arrested for debt, and suspected of madness. Meanwhile, the original inhabitants grow increasingly bewildered by the apparent strangeness of their familiar companions. The frenetic comedy builds through a series of misunderstandings, accusations, and physical comedy until the truth is finally revealed when both sets of twins appear together, resolving all confusion and reuniting the long-separated family.
