On Friday, June 12, a crew climbed scaffolding on the Kennedy Center facade and removed Donald Trump's name while crowds below cheered and news outlets live-streamed the whole thing. The optics were extraordinary. What makes the story richer is what happened in the 24 hours before: the Trump-appointed board voted to seek a delay in exactly this removal. They lost. The building won.
