Beckett and Ionesco Walk Into an Opera. Buenos Aires Is Ready.

The DAMus-UNA Opera Company is staging Absurdópera at the Teatro del Globo in Buenos Aires on June 14, and the premise alone earns attention: a one-hour opera in two acts drawn from texts by Samuel Beckett and Eugène Ionesco, composed by Gustavo Leone. The absurdist theatre canon has been raided for opera libretti before, but rarely with this degree of directness about what it is doing. This one is worth the conversation.
