Tenor (spinto)
An American spinto tenor of commanding presence, Brian Jagde has emerged as one of the leading interpreters of the Italian dramatic repertoire, commanding the stages of the world's great opera houses with a voice of burnished power and theatrical intelligence.
Defining moments and milestones
Brian Jagde emerged from the San Francisco Opera's prestigious training programs as a tenor of uncommon dramatic weight and vocal authority, transitioning from baritone under the mentorship of Michael Paul to claim the heroic spinto repertoire as his own. His European debut at Teatr Wielki Opera Poznan and subsequent house debuts at the Royal Opera House and Lyric Opera of Chicago established him as a vocalist of serious international credentials. Over the past decade, he has systematically conquered the world's greatest opera houses—from the Metropolitan Opera to the Wiener Staatsoper, Bayerische Staatsoper, and Bolshoi Theatre—securing his position as one of the leading dramatic tenors of his generation.
