Principal Dancer
An American principal dancer with American Ballet Theatre renowned for his classical technique and interpretive depth across the full classical repertoire.
Defining moments and milestones
Trained in classical ballet across Texas and Florida under accomplished mentors including Fernando Bujones, Gorak made his professional debut with Orlando Ballet in 2005 and joined American Ballet Theatre's Studio Company in 2006, progressing through apprentice and corps ranks to achieve soloist status in 2014 and principal rank thereafter. His 2011 recognition as best male dancer at the Erik Bruhn Prize competition and his Princess Grace Foundation award established him as a dancer of significant technical and artistic merit. Now a principal dancer at ABT, Gorak has become a dependable interpreter of the classical canon—from Swan Lake and Sleeping Beauty to contemporary works by Alexei Ratmansky—combining precise technique with the musical sensitivity and dramatic intelligence that define mature artistry.
Named best male dancer at the Ninth International Erik Bruhn Prize competition (Toronto, March 5, 2011); recipient of 2011 Princess Grace Foundation-USA Dance Fellowship
