Colombian-American conductor Lina González-Granados has emerged as a leading interpreter of symphonic and operatic repertoire, with particular distinction as an advocate for Latin American composers and a trailblazer for representation in the American opera house.
Defining moments and milestones
González-Granados emerged from rigorous training at elite American conservatories to become one of the most accomplished young conductors of her generation, distinguished by her 2019 victory in the prestigious Sir Georg Solti International Conducting Competition. Her appointment as Resident Conductor of LA Opera in 2022—a historic position as the company's first Latina resident conductor—solidified her standing as a major operatic interpreter and advocate for Latin American composers. Now in her early established career, she continues to expand the boundaries of operatic programming while mentoring the next generation of conductors.
