Singer (experimental/unconventional vocal approach)
Paul Soileau is an American multidisciplinary performance artist and singer-songwriter whose provocative drag personas—most notably the confrontational Christeene—weaponize theatrical excess to interrogate social hypocrisy and queer visibility.
Defining moments and milestones
Soileau's artistic trajectory began in childhood Lake Charles theatre before crystallizing into a distinctive performance practice rooted in queer nightlife and cinema obsession. After relocating to Austin, Texas, he created Christeene Vale around 2009—a deliberately anti-aesthetic drag persona designed to expose rather than conceal, to provoke rather than please—establishing himself as a provocateur within experimental queer performance. Over the past fifteen years, he has developed a multifaceted career spanning drag performance, music, acting, and performance art, consistently prioritizing ideological clarity and aesthetic disruption over mainstream acceptance.
