Designed by Herbert J. Krapp and opened in 1921, the Ambassador Theatre is a distinguished member of Broadway's Shubert-era playhouses on West 49th Street. Its 1,125-seat auditorium has hosted landmark musicals and plays across more than a century, most notably serving as the long-running home of Chicago. The theater's elegant Italianate facade and well-proportioned interior exemplify the craftsmanship of Broadway's golden age of theater construction, operated today by the Shubert Organization.
