Glyndebourne

The main entrance to Glyndebourne is accessed via the estate drive from the village of Glyndebourne, near Lewes. First-time visitors should allow extra time for parking and arrival; the venue is set within a private country estate rather than an urban center, and the approach is part of the experience.

The long interval—typically 90 minutes—is Glyndebourne's signature social ritual. Audiences spread across the estate lawns with picnics, champagne, and blankets. The bar areas become crowded during this period; arriving early to secure a drink or finding a quiet corner of the grounds is advisable. The interval is as much a part of the Glyndebourne experience as the opera itself.

Public Transit

Glyndebourne railway station serves the venue directly on the Lewes–East Grinstead line. Lewes railway station (2.5 miles away) is served by Southern Railway services to London Bridge and other major destinations, making it accessible from London Victoria or London Bridge in approximately 1 hour. Ride-share drop-off is available at the estate entrance.

Parking

On-site car parking for approximately 600 vehicles is available, with advance booking strongly recommended during the festival season (May–August). Coach parking is also provided. The estate setting means ample grounds for parking, though summer demand is high.
